Sariah Mghames, PhD
AI Lead | Freelancer

I am a scientist and developer in the field of AI/ML (including explainable/Trustworthy AI) for application domains of logistics, energy, assistive healthcare, agrifood, surveillance, line production, public-private sector reformation, and that’s leveraging solutions in motion/behavior analysis and prediction, causal analysis, machine/computer vision, robotics, and language models.

I currently reside in Lebanon. After almost 10 years living abroad, I moved back to Lebanon in September 2024 to join Siren Analytics company in Beirut as an AI Lead, addressing alongside the Siren workforce the need for public-private sectors reformation. I took my PhD in 2019 from Italy, University of Pisa, Centro Enrico Piaggio, in Information engineering with specialty in Robotics, AI and Automation. I received my MSc. in 2015 from University Pierre and Marie Curie, Paris VI, in Advanced Systems and Robotics, while my BEng in Mechanical Engineering was awarded by Notre Dame University - Louaize (NDU), Lebanon, with suma cum laude. After my PhD, I moved to UK, to start an R&D job in AI/ML & Robotics within the Lincoln Centre for Autonomous Systems (L-CAS), at University of Lincoln. In 2024, I was a visiting researcher in Trustworthy AI in Padova, Italy, following an award from the Alan Turing Institute in UK.

Between May-September 2024, I was an external service provider to Siemens Energy working on front-end development and ML-based projects for fault detection in Gas Turbines.

Overall, I worked on large scale projects funded by European and British governments, and in collaboration with international industrial (Siemens Energy, Bosch, Saga Robotics, qbrobotics, Design Engineering Partners) and academic partners. I led technically and managerially work packages, mentored and supervised younger engineers and scientists, contributed to work package integration with partners, and I was part of technical board meetings to steer future project plans among partners. Between 2013 and 2014, I worked at Design engineering Partners (DEP) company, Lebanon, as a mechanical design engineer for construction.
